A muffler delete may pass emissions testing, but it can fail noise, visual, or equipment checks depending on local rules. A muffler delete removes the rear sound-control part of the exhaust. It doesn’t, by itself, remove the catalytic converter, oxygen sensors, EGR hardware, EVAP parts, or the computer monitors that most smog stations care about.
